Historical Ambassador

Bishop Johnson was baptized in Jesus’ name on June 30th, 1977 at Bethlehem Temple church (PCAF) at the young age of 12 years old. Three years later, Johnson received the Holy Ghost at Omega Temple Church on January 27th, 1980. After attending the PCAF church for some time, Johnson became discouraged due to a lack of teaching. He had an intense hunger for the word and refused to believe their doctrine, which was “Jesus was not God, but just a mere man.” Johnson found a small church with only 4 members Pastored by the then Elder Ira Combs, Jr. Johnson quickly came into the knowledge of the Oneness of the Godhead and Jesus being God. Johnson’s family at the time was against the Oneness Doctrine and his mother forbade him to go back to that church. But, Johnson took a stand and told his mother that if she did not allow him to go back to the Oneness church, he would pack his clothes and leave. Seeing the seriousness in him, his mother allowed him to leave that church, due to doctrinal differences. Johnson began attending Greater Bible Way Temple the following week. He was just 15 years old. At the age of 16 years old, Johnson began preaching on the street corners of Jackson. Johnson served faithfully at GBWT Jackson for 18 ½ years in almost every office in the church, including Associate Pastor and had a successful television ministry that aired 3-times a week. Johnson’s preaching ministry was greatly inspired by Bishop Ira Combs and the late Bishop R.P. Paddock influenced his teaching ministry. Bishop Johnson is a man that loves the riches of God’s word and is prominently known for his depth of knowledge of the Bible. It has been said that Johnson has the ability to take the scriptures and make them so plain that even a child can understand.

In the spring of 2011, Johnson earned his PhD. when he completed his Doctorate studies in Theology and Christian Education. In 2016, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World promoted Johnson to the office of Suffragan Bishop in the Dominican Republic Council under the leadership of Bishop Moses Butler. There he serves the people of God through teaching, providing clothing and other basic needs. On October 16th, 1998, Bishop Johnson commenced the first service at his founding church, Greater Bible Way Temple in Bay City, MI. After 18 years dedicated commitment and leadership, Johnson successfully burned the church mortgage and acquired multiple properties; including a 5-unit apartment building, a parking lot and 2 houses. On September 30th, 2016, Johnson was elected pastor of Greater Bethel Temple and graciously accepted the position and the call of God to continue his work for the Lord in Louisville, Kentucky. Bishop Johnson is a man of great humility, and has a reputation of care for the people of God that proceeds him. The theme of his life is found in the words of Jesus when he said “for the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister…”

Bishop Rader Johnson was born in Jackson, MI on June 5, 1964 to Floyd and Annette Johnson. In 1982, he met the love of his life, Rhoda Noreen Selby, who he baptized in Jesus name at GBWT Jackson and God filled her with the Holy Ghost. On December 10, 1983 they were married and became the proud parents of 6 children: Minister Lamar Selby, Mario Selby, Dr. Phillip Johnson, Daniel (1985-2004), Pamela and Aaron.
