On December 29, 2010, 41 tons of rice was shipped to Port Au Prince, Haiti. Bishop Joseph Monitor and Pastor Regalliard Yves will receive the shipment on behalf of the Haiti council of churches. This shipment was a part of the disaster relief efforts of the PAW IMD, Bishop H. Charles Ellis, presiding Bishop and Dr Mona Reide, Chairperson. “We are also in the market for a large quantity of beans for shipment to Haiti. Haiti is in dire need because the rebels are complicating the issue and stealing the goods before they arrive to the people in need. In the last 12 months the general population has not received very much. We intend to do our part by shipping needed goods to the Haiti council of churches and making sure the goods are received by our people.” said Trustee Everett Howard, Logistics Coordinator for IMD disaster relief. Pastor Fred Harris assisted Trustee Howard in the shipment by praying over the rice as it was loaded in the container at The Rice Mill in Dewitt, Arkansas. It scheduled to arrive in Haiti on January 30, 2011. The PAW IMD is asking individuals and churches to donate emergency relief items. Items are being collected to ship from Columbus, Ohio, from Bishop Moses Butler’s Missions Facility. A team of volunteers will sort, pack, and load container once it is full. “Purchasing food and supplies is much more costly in Haiti now, because of the many unfair practices. The people of Haiti need our support and encouragement. Haitians need our help now,” said Trustee Howard. |
