District Elder IrvinGregory S. Irvin is Pastor of the Greater Bethel Apostolic Assembly; Founder and CEO of Olive Branch Housing (CDC), a housing program for low and moderate income families; Olive Branch Learning Center, a daycare and preschool; Bethel’s JobQuest, an employment service; and Bethel’s Villa, a halfway house for delinquent, neglected and abused teens. These are all 501c3 corps. He is married to the former Carmen Butler; they have two children: April, 30, a 4th Grade School Teacher and Gregory II, 29 years of age an Industrial Systems Engineer with the FAA in Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Irvin attended Wilberforce University from August 1973 through August 1977. He majored in Communications; his minor was Business Administration. He has completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training in 2007. He was active in his church by serving in various capacities, including service as head of Campus Ministry at Wilberforce and Central State Universities, trustee and deacon.

During this time after teaching English one year in the Springfield City School system he became well established in his job at the Springfield Newspapers, Inc., as a District Manager. He remained active in the Ohio District Council, a regional division of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He served as Treasurer and Vice-President of the Southern Ohio District Brotherhood, and President of the Southern Ohio District Young People’s Union. Mr. Irvin also served as a community liaison with the Springfield Urban League, educating teenagers regarding the prevention of teen pregnancies.

Currently Pastor Irvin is a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Ohio District Council and the Foreign Missions Board of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. Mr. Irvin has traveled to Haiti, Dominican Republic; Port a Rico setting up Medical expeditions meeting with Ministers of the State in these countries so that a Medical Team of Doctors and volunteers could come in and give much needed medical attention, food, and clothing, counsel, building churches and ministry. Haiti his most dangerous mission’s trip was when the country was in upheaval and the President was fleeing and angry protestors, mobs were in streets, disease and the smell of pollution was in the air.

In 1986, Pastor Irvin came to London, Ohio, to assume the pastorate of the Greater Bethel Apostolic Assembly. He quickly developed a deep commitment to the local community. He has sat on the Madison County Mental Health Board and the ADAMHS Board. He has served as Chairman of the Metropolitan Housing Board, Ministry for Community service organization and the London Area Ministerial Alliance member.
